Thread veins are extremely common and sometimes embarrassing, mostly affecting the face, body and legs.

The cause of thread veins are unknown although they may be caused by changes in temperature, smoking, hormonal changes, alcohol and prolonged standing as well as being a possible inherited condition.

They can appear as single veins, widely dispersed or as a collection of broken veins close together. They can also appear as a collection of vessels arising from a single point; these are known as Spider Naevi.

We offer two methods to treat facial thread veins: The excel V+ laser and Thermavein.

EXCEL V+ LASER

The Cutera laser treatment is the most advanced aesthetic laser technology, combining two powerfully precise lasers to target and eliminate unwanted leg veins. Treatments are comfortable and fast with most treatments performed in under 10 minutes, however, depending on the areas and concerns being treated, it may take up to 30 minutes.

The excel V+ is the fast and easy way to treat a broad range of vessels from tiny spider veins to deep blue reticular veins (up to 3.5mm) quickly, safely and effectively.

The Cutera Laser delivers pulses of light energy which cause the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessels which are later reabsorbed by the body. It can remove unsightly veins from all parts of the body.

Laser treatment may feel similar to a quick rubber band snapping against the skin. During laser a cooled treatment tip will be in contact with the skin to protect and provide additional comfort to the areas being treated.

Results are typically seen after 1 to 3 sessions.

ThermaVein®

ThermaVein® is useful for treating very small veins normally to the facial area, commonly known as telangiectasia. We have been providing this Thread Vein Treatment at our Clinic for the successful removal of unsightly Spider Veins for over 25 years.

The thermo-coagulation of ThermaVein® is an effective solution for treating small veins on the face, such as those troublesome areas on the nose and cheeks.  Thermo-coagulation is based on a high-frequency wave producing a thermal lesion with the protection of the skin, a very fine needle is inserted into the vein and it can disappear instantaneously. The single-use sterile needle is covered with an insulating sheath which protects the skin, enabling a targeted action.

The sensation is similar to a warm pinprick, others relate it to a minor sting which doesn’t linger – often it depends upon the location of the treatment.

Immediately after the treatment, you can resume everyday activities, however, we strongly recommend you avoid the sun for a couple of days or use sunblock. After a few day’s very small micro crusts can appear where Veinwave needle has been applied. This is normal and no special care is required and generally heals within a few days.
