Tear Trough Treatment

Our eyes are one of the most important features of our face and their ability to be the main focal point of the face can be diminished because of wrinkles, eyebrow dropping, cheek volume loss and puffy eyebags.

Some injectables could take a few days, even weeks, for the effect to be noticed. However, the tear trough filler can provide instant results. We call this procedure the wow factor, as it is quick, easy and the results are instantaneous, not to mention magical, as the eyebags literally disappear.

The tear trough is the depression or hollow between the upper cheek and your eyelid, these depressions get worse as we age.  Patients often feel that they look tired and have dark circles whether they have a good night’s sleep or not. As the face ages, the skin starts to age, the eye socket hollows and the skin can become crepey and wrinkled.  Tear trough fillers are suitable for people who are concerned about dark circles or wrinkles around their eyes, and are looking to restore lost volume. Tear trough filler treatment can you give you the following results:

  • Reduces dark circles under the eyes

  • Adds volume and plump hollows under the eyes

  • Rejuvenates tired eyes

  • Boosts collagen production and overall skin quality

  • Reduces lines and wrinkles

  • Quick treatment with instant results

  • Long lasting results

  • No surgery or recovery time.

Under eye fillers and tear trough treatments can greatly improve the appearance of these areas.  In the past, it was thought that only surgery could serve as an effective tear trough treatment, and there were no effective treatments for the annoying dark circles under the eyes.

Tear Trough Treatment FAQs

+ How long does the procedure take?

Our eye bag removal under eye treatments take around 30 minutes, and the results are instantaneous.

+ Does it hurt?

The area treated is not very sensitive and pain in most patients is minimal, so much so that we usually do not use any analgesia at all for this procedure.

+ How long does it last?

The results will last around 12 months, but in many cases, it can be even longer. Once the patient has had a few top ups, the results can be very long lasting.

+ Is it safe?

Since the manufacturer Galderma, launched Restylane in 1996, it is estimated that over 9 million under eye treatments in over 70 countries have been carried out worldwide. Restylane and Perlane, which are used in this procedure, are a biocompatible and biodegradable product which means that it is not harmful to the body and is broken down and removed from the body naturally. The hyaluronic acid fillers come in the form of a sterile gel produced in the laboratory. The advantages of these modern fillers include that they are non-permanent, unlike the surgical alternative.

+ Are there any side effects??

Some injection related side-effects to eye trough fillers can occur, including redness, swelling and bruising but none of these are usually very significant and will resolve in a matter of days. The most common side effect is bruising, which can be easily covered with makeup. Major long term side-effects are incredibly rare, and hypersensitivity reactions are reported to be as rare as 1 in 20,000 according to the latest research.

For the first four hours after the procedure, patient is advised to stay upright, to let the filler to settle. Any strenuous activity is not allowed within 24 hours. Cosmetics can be applied the following day. Take note that chemical peels, tanning or facials of any kind should be avoided within seven days after the procedure as the tissues are still highly sensitive.

+ What are the advantages of this procedure over surgery?

We will assess every patient thoroughly before deciding whether they are suitable for this non-surgical procedure. Many patients who previously thought that their only alternative was surgery, are pleasantly surprised when they are told that this quick and simple procedure can solve their problem. The advantages of avoiding eye bag removal surgery are many: • No surgical scarring • No General anesthesia • No hospital overnight stays. This really is a daytime procedure, and the patient can usually get on with their normal daily routine straight away. • No time off work. • In many cases better and more natural results than with the surgical alternative.
